Brrr… where did January go? With just under 20 weeks until BSides Bristol 2019 (check out the nifty count-down clock on the homepage), we’re in over-drive getting everything sorted. Here’s what’s up!

Call for Presentations

We’re relying on the awesome InfoSec community in the South West and beyond to present original and interesting presentations that spark conversations with participants. With that in mind, the call for presentations (CfP) is now open!

If you have something to share, be it something you’ve been working on personally or in your organisation, we need you! You don’t have to be a seasoned presenter and you don’t need to worry that other people might know more than you – BSides Bristol is an all-inclusive event due to be packed with supportive people that share your interests.

We’re looking to run blue and red tracks alongside a ‘short talks’ track depending on the presentations we receive – so even if you don’t have a lot to say there’s still a place for you!

The deadline for submissions is 23rd March 2019 at 19:00 GMT. When all submissions have been reviewed by the team, ticket-holders will be able to vote on the presentations they’d like to see. Check out our Call for Presentations page to find out more and submit your presentation.

Thanks to Alex for sorting out the CfP process and timeline.

We’ve now finalized our sponsorship packages and are reaching out to those who’ve already inquired to encourage them to secure their place. If your organisation would consider sponsoring BSides Bristol 2019, please visit our Sponsorship page to download the sponsors pack. It includes a full business case for sponsoring to win over your marketing, events or management teams if they need some convincing!

We’ve got sponsorship levels for all budgets including a dedicated level for small to medium sized organisations. Download the pack to find out more.

Our first batch of tickets is due to be released next week. These super early bird tickets are for the super-keen and we’ll reach out to those who registered their interest first. Get that leave in quick!

We’ve had lots of offers of help from supporters to help with the smooth-running of things on the 20th and 21st June. We haven’t forgotten you! We’ll formally be opening a call for volunteers in the coming weeks once we’ve determined exactly what kind of support we’ll need. Please hang tight and thank you for being so keen!

Team Updates

We’re pleased to announce that Kev Breen (AKA @KevTheHermit) has joined the core team to help organise BSides Bristol. Kev is a seasoned BSider and a well-respected member of the InfoSec community so its great to have him on the team. He’ll be helping out with organising the presentations and the general running of the event to make sure its the best it can be. Thanks Kev and welcome aboard!

We’re overwhelmed with the support we’ve had from sponsors, participants and potential presenters these past six months. It’s been a long journey but we’re getting there and its thanks to people like you. Thank you! Stay tuned.
