Security BSides started life in Las Vegas in 2009, following the rejection of several quality speakers from a mainstream conferences. Since then, it has expanded significantly, and now BSides events are hosted worldwide. In 2010 the first European event was held, and it now comprises of over 66 events across 39 cities, spanning 10 countries and 5 continents.

The first BSides Bristol event was held in 2019 but was cancelled in subsequent years because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, under new leadership, BSides Bristol was re-launched and the 2024 event is planned to be bigger and better than ever!
